AP211 | Apologetics 1 | Frank Barich | College Room | Monday 5:15 to 7:15 PM |
Apologetics to many, is a method used only by the elite of intellectuals. However, any Christian can use apologetics as an effective and persuasive conversation method, whether in the defense or edification of the faith. In this course, you will learn how to establish an Apologetic Approach and develop skills in using your approach, to open the minds of non-believers on how the idea of theological knowledge (study of God) is even possible. Apologetics for the Christian is also related to philosophy (pursuit of wisdom), in that it provides a discourse and defense for the values and reality of religious beliefs, beyond observational means. You will study the historical and contemporary philosophies used in framing apologetics and will learn of the various secular (anti-God) philosophical positions. At the completion of this course, you will possess improved skills in research, analysis, and application from a Biblical perspective, and will have learned to use these skills to contend for the faith, speaking the truth in love.
